4 ways to sync Airtable and Webflow

Airtable and Webflow are a match made in heaven.

Airtable, a relational database, lets you track anything: freelancers for your marketplace, content production workflows for your blog, submissions, anything! All from start to finish.

What it can’t do is take that information and turn it into your website. That’s where Webflow comes in! With Webflow you can build beautiful websites without being a designer. But what if your data is in Airtable? Do you really have to manually copy paste the data from Airtable to Webflow? What about updates?

Of course you don’t, there are many different ways to sync information from Airtable to Webflow!

Here are four different ways to sync from Airtable to Webflow:

#1. Nobull

Nobull is an Airtable app created by Finsweet that syncs an Airtable with your Webflow CMS. You can sync your whole table—or a view—at the click of a button or on a schedule. The free app can be installed from any Airtable base and requires only a few steps to get started.

How Nobull syncs Webflow and Airtable

The main disadvantage (and advantage depending on how you see it) is that Nobull assumes you want to sync all of the information in your view or table to Webflow for the fields you’ve configured. You can’t pick and choose records to sync, it’s all or nothing. Additionally, you can’t transform information from Airtable before it gets to Webflow. Say you have a first name and a last name, there is no way to send the full name to Webflow.

Nobull is perfect for those starting with a blank slate that want to always sync their whole Airtable view or table with corresponding webflow fields!

#2. Whalesync

Whalesync is a tool dedicated to syncing Webflow and Airtable. Similar to Nobull, you select the fields you want to sync from Airtable to Webflow and Whalesync takes it from there syncing those on demand or on a schedule. And just like Nobull, it does not offer transformation options—what you have in Airtable is what you’ll see in Webflow.

The main advantage of Whalesync is that it offers two way sync. Any changes you make in one tool will be automatically reflected in the other magically! That value comes at a cost: their cheapest plan starts at 29$/month at 2,000 records up to $99/month at 100,000 records.

#3. Use Airtable Scripting

With Airtable scripting’s app, which is free to use on all Airtable plans, you can write a short script to sync Airtable and Webflow. This option offers the utmost flexibility: you can decide to sync all records in a table, restrict the syncing to the records in a view, transform information before it gets to Webflow, trigger the sync record by record with a button field and so much more!

The main drawback of syncing Airtable and Webflow with a script is that, well, you have to write the script! Have no fear, if you’re unfamiliar with writing scripts in Airtable, the Turn Airtable into your Webflow CMS course by Connor Finlaysonn gives you step by step instructions to sync Airtable and Webflow (including the script).

#4. Sync with Zapier/Integromat

The final option is to use automation platforms like Zapier or Integromat. Automation tools allow you create “if this then that type” automations like If a new record Airtable is created, send it to webflow or when a record in Airtable is updated, send that update to Webflow. The outcome is exactly like all of the tools options above. The disadvantage is that these tools require additional configuration, add additional cost and can be quite finicky when it comes multi reference fields! Here’s a video from Connor walking you through step by step how to set up the Airtable to Webflow sync in Zapier
